WOOD CARE
Before assembling your racks, we recommend that you take the time to stain and seal your units. Staining your Mixrack is a great way to smooth out imperfections in the wood while also adding a personal touch. To keep your Mixrack in great shape for the long haul, we recommend sealing it after staining. Sealing adds an extra layer of protection, preserving the wood and ensuring it stands up to regular use and making it easier to clean and maintain.
Staining
Stain or dye your Mixrack with your favorite product. We recommend testing it on a the left over wood from the punched-out shelves.
One product we’ve really liked is Littlefair’s Interior Wood Dye. It’s got a large range of colors, is easy to use, low odor, and labeled as non-toxic. The application is super smooth, and it gives a great finish—even if you only do one coat.
Stain Samples
Here’s the range of Littlefair’s Interior Wood Dye displayed on shelves. These test swatches each show just one coat, but adding a second coat will enhance the color a little bit more.
Sealing
We highly recommend that you seal the wood whether you stain it or not with your favorite sealer. We like wax-free Shellac.
Here is an example of a stained Cub!
We used the color Brown Mahogany, and applied 2 coats total.
